Rooftop walkway and protected access route
Discuss a similar projectAnti-slip WalkSafe route across a profiled metal roof, tying plant access into a defined path instead of walking the sheets.
A facilities team needed a repeatable route across a corrugated metal roof to plant and access points. Walking the sheets was damaging the covering and putting people close to unguarded edges whenever a contractor attended.
The challenge
The roof was in regular use but not designed as a workplace. Fragile areas, services and an open eaves line meant a painted line on the metal was not enough. The client also wanted personal fall arrest available beside the main path.
What we installed
A WalkSafe GRP walkway with step-overs at services, plus an adjacent Constant Force lifeline for tasks off the deck. Where the route ran near the eaves, guardrail provided collective prevention so not every visit required a harness.
The result
Contractors now follow a marked, anti-slip path. The roof covering is protected, and the system can be inspected with the rest of the building’s fall protection on a 12-month cycle.
