A new steel-frame commercial unit needed collective fall arrest before the roofing package could start. Open bays, bundled roof sheets waiting on the steel, and a live site below meant personal clipping alone would have slowed every trade.
The challenge
The frame had to stay open for deliveries while roofers and sheeters worked above. Temporary edge protection at the perimeter was not enough on its own: anyone working inboard of the eaves still needed a soft-landing system that met FASET and BS EN 1263.
What we installed
Our directly employed CSCS FASET-trained riggers installed fall-arrest netting across the frame, tensioned to the steel and signed off to BS EN 1263-2. Perimeter edge protection closed the leading edge. IPAF-certified access was used to reach the high steel without improvised platforms.
The result
Roofing could proceed with a collective system in place, so individual clipping did not dictate the programme. The same team remained available for inspection while the nets stayed in for the duration of the works.
